Via Bigdownloads:
Stardock will release an Nvidia edition of their Impulse game download client later this month. It will be designed to check which version of Nvidia's drivers are installed on your PC. It will then go and see if any updated drivers are available to download from Nvidia's web site. Impulse can then automatically download and install those drivers.
This is a clever idea. As simple as downloading drivers may seem, the public at large often forgets to updates theirs. Oftentimes this will lead to problems with various games. Automating that process through steam or impluse would be a good way to address it. Especially if it meant that you would be notified the moment your drivers were updated.

this is very clever - however there are situations (though relatively rare) where the newest drivers don't perform as well as the slightly older yet more stable driver. I have run across this several times. Now, I haven't seen this enough to claim that this idea is bad - as this is most definately the exception rather than the rule, but it is something to consider - being updated into a non-working state automatically. As a gamer and a techie this would probably send me to the moon....
Actually, that problem is a relatively common one, so your point is well made.
After looking into it, I found the following in the press release "The Impulse NVIDIA Edition is a one-stop application that detects the latest
video drivers available from the NVIDIA site, compares those to the version
installed on a user's PC and if the user elects to update to the most current
version, Impulse NVIDIA Edition will automate the installation process."
So it appears that Impulse notifies the user of an update, then if said user elects, automates the upgrade process. Which is how it should be.
